“Fernando Alonso is mighty around Singapore, and the world championship leader has been driving his Ferrari aggressively and cleanly all weekend. Problem is that, contrary to its driver’s expectations, his car has simply not been quick enough. He admitted this was a ‘bad surprise’. ‘We need to maximise points,’ he said, ‘finish the race, which is not easy because it is very demanding from the mechanical side, suspension, temperatures, brakes, gearbox, everything will be struggling tomorrow and a lot of concentration from the driver point of view and if someone wins the race and is much faster than us we congratulate them and think for the next one.’ He said he ‘cannot win with the pace we have now’ but his race-simulation run on Friday was strong. Don’t count him out.”
