Prime Minister Julia Gillard has surged to a 10-point lead over Tony Abbott as elite primary apportion following her assertive claims of misogyny opposite a Opposition Leader.

The latest Nielsen check also shows a Coalition's two-party ­preferred lead has narrowed to 52 to 48 per cent nonetheless Labor's primary opinion is solid during 34 per cent compared with 43 per cent for a Coalition.

Ms Gillard leads Mr Abbott 50 per cent (up 3 points given mid-September) to 40 per cent
