Week 8 Checkdown: After surviving in Dallas, Giants own NFC East again

The Dallas Cowboys couldn’t complete what would have been a stunning comeback after falling behind 23-0 at home, and their eventual 29-24 home loss to the New York Giants on Sunday all but ensures the reigning Super Bowl champions will repeat as NFC East champions.

Tony Romo led a valiant rally, but his four interceptions and wide receiver Dez Bryant’s inability to stay inbounds on a potential game-winning Hail Mary gave the Giants a split in the division series. Instead of Dallas (3-4) getting a sweep and moving a half-game behind New York (6-2), it’s now a solid 2½-game deficit.
