Obama nominates openly lesbian Hispanic justice to federal bench

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama on Tuesday nominated Judge Nitza I. Quiñones Alejandro, who now serves on a Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas, for a sovereign judgeship with a U.S. District Court for a Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
