Two Marylanders to win Citizens Medal

Two Marylanders are among about a dozen people from opposite a nation who will accept a Presidential Citizens Medal subsequent week, a nation’s second-highest municipal honor, a White House announced on Friday.

Janice Jackson, a Baltimore resident, will accept a respect for formulating a nonprofit organisation called Women Embracing Abilities Now, that helps women with disabilities. Jackson also teaches song during a University of Baltimore. 

Terry Shima, of Gaithersburg, was partial of an Army section of Japanese Americans who volunteered for  combat avocation in World War II. Shima also served as executive executive of a Japanese American Veterans Association. 

The dual will attend a rite during a White House on Feb. 15 to accept a endowment from President Obama. It is a second-highest municipal endowment bestowed by a sovereign supervision after a Presidential Medal of Freedom.
