To this day, many people brand mid-2008 as a time they satisfied what form of politician Barack Obama indeed is. Six months before, when seeking a Democratic nomination, then-Sen. Obama unambiguously vowed that he would filibuster “any bill” that retroactively immunized a telecom attention for carrying participated in a bootleg Bush NSA warrantless eavesdropping program.
But in Jul 2008, once he had cumulative a nomination, a check came before a Senate that did accurately that – a FISA Amendments Act of 2008 – and Obama not usually unsuccessful to filibuster as promised, though distant worse, he voted opposite a filibuster brought by other Senators, and afterwards voted in preference of enacting a check itself.
