'Stormin Norman' Schwarzkopf dead at 78

WASHINGTON — Norman Schwarzkopf, a US ubiquitous who gathering Saddam Hussein’s army from Kuwait in 1991 as commander of a lightning debate famous as Operation Desert Storm, died Thursday during a age of 78.

Schwarzkopf, an American favourite famous popularly as “Stormin’ Norman,” died in Tampa, where he late after his final posting as conduct of US Central Command, that controls operations in a Middle East and South Asia.

“We’ve mislaid an American original,” US President Barack Obama said.

“From his flashy use in Vietnam to a ancestral ransom of Kuwait and his care of United States Central Command, General Schwarzkopf stood high for a nation and Army he loved,” he pronounced in a statement.
