When a 23-year-old Michael Clarke won his initial Allan Border Medal in 2005, it was tough to tell what was a glitziest thing about him – his spiky blonde-tipped hair, his splendid yellow tie or that magnificent solid earring. They were a affectations of a male who felt he had done it.
