President Barack Obama’s choosing feat unprotected tectonic demographic shifts in American multitude that are reordering a U.S. domestic landscape.
The 2012 presidential choosing expected will be remembered as imprinting a finish of long-standing coalitions, as electorate regroup in cultural, racial and mercantile patterns that plea both parties—but generally Republicans.
Older electorate and white working-class voters, once core elements of a Democratic Party, have drifted into a Republican column. Rural and parochial voters, whose grandparents corroborated a New Deal, now fill a swath of a U.S. that leans reliably GOP.
