Michigan hospital blazes trail in fight against fungal meningitis

CHICAGO (Reuters) – After his initial day operative during St Joseph Mercy Ann Arbor hospital’s newly combined Fungal Outbreak Clinic, Dr David Vandenberg struggled to report to his trainer a concern of what lay ahead. He staid on a line from a film Jaws.

“We’re going to need a bigger boat,” Vandenberg told Dr Lakshmi Halasyamani, arch medical officer of a Michigan hospital, echoing a film’s internal military arch after he initial eyes a 25-foot (7.5-metre) torpedo shark.
