South Africa's President Says Mandela Looking 'Much Better'

Mr. Zuma pronounced in a matter that Mr. Mandela, 94, "is looking most better" and that "the doctors are happy with a swell he is making."

The boss visited Mr. Mandela on Christmas morning during a Pretoria sanatorium along with Mr. Mandela's wife, a children's rights romantic Graça Machel.

"We found him in good spirits," Mr. Zuma pronounced in a statement. "He shouted my house name, Nxamalala, as we walked into a ward."

Mr. Mandela has been in increasingly thin health, and his latest hospitalization has been a longest given he was expelled from jail in 1990. His health is closely watched; internal news organizations have been camped outside
